What’s an Unconference Event?
An unconference is a conference organized, structured and led by the people attending it. Instead of passive listening, all attendees and organizers are encouraged to become participants, with discussion leaders providing moderation and structure for attendees.
At the unconference event, no topics have been predetermined, no keynote speakers have been invited, no panels have been arranged. Instead, the event lives and dies by the participation of you and other attendees.
You decide what topics will be discussed and we will convene the individual breakout sessions. In other words, an Unconference has no preset agenda until the participants create it.
At Product Camp Dallas everyone participates in some manner: presenting, leading a discussion, showcasing a best practice, or sharing their experiences.
Others help with logistics, securing sponsorships, organizing sessions, or setting up/cleaning up. This is a self-organizing collaborative event that is designed be a fun, rewarding and a unique experience.
This year, we’re embracing the hybrid work environment that many of us have found ourselves in. You can now submit your pitch online in advance of the Unconference.
Just
(1) post a video of your pitch to YouTube
(2) share the link with us through our Submit a Pitch form (big blue button below)
(3) we’ll vote on the best session pitches and
(4) ‘wining’ pitches will be scheduled to a dedicated track.
If you ‘lose’, you can still present the day of the Unconference to compete for another open track slot. Consider it a double elimination tournament with a second chance!
A 30-second pitch of an idea used as the topic of a breakout session. Participants vote for the topics they wish to see. Gamification elements make the event fun and interactive.
An opportunity to meet new individuals one-on-one and to interact with people that have shared interests. Job seekers and mentors!
A schedule based on votes. 3-4 talks will occur at the same time. Participants are encouraged and have the ability to move from “room to room” freely.
